Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise

President Matthew gonged the meeting to order and Cam recited the Four Way test for us. There were 15 members present plus visiting Rotarian Shail Mahanti from the Arbutus Club.

Rotary Moment

John is still wrestling with the Grizzlies, so there was no Rotary moment this week.

Announcements

Robert: Please get those pledge emails out, folks. So far was are at only $1,900. Personal pledges are targetted for $20,000, so please email your friends.

Larry and Cam: Fondly remembered former member Astley Smith. His service is at 1:00PM on Sunday June 3rd at the University Golf Club at UBC.

Hockey pool: Carlos and Jim are battling it out for first place.

Bill: Race Day is August 18th 1:00 post time. Bringing kids is fine; think about bringing prospective members.

Julie: Suggested the common room in Diana's building for the Change Over dinner on Sunday June 24th and recommended using a caterer which will cost around $25 per person. Mark your calendars.

Member News

Diana said, "Happy Birthday Julie"; everyone agreed. Larry’s son is visiting; there has been a fire and a tornado at his yoga centre; 100 trees were destroyed. Our incoming President and birthday girl was in pain from a lost molar. Sheila is Assistant Stage Manager for the Jericho Arts Centre comedy London Assurance which opens on Friday. Bill had a sad toonie for Astley who coordinated fundraising for a computer system for a pre-natal clinic in Jamaica. Matthew told us that Naomi laughed at one of Bill’s emails—go figure.

Business Meeting

There is an issue with the Club’s Facebook page with people posting inappropriate comments. Carlos will look into this and lock down the page from guest comments.

Cam says that we are in pretty good shape for speakers.

Hoop-a-Thon... See above!

Woman in policing have asked for money for their conference.

Petunia and Ricky have raised another $72 let’s get it to $100 by year end.

Matthew is attending the King George scholarships dinner.

Seniors' Christmas lunch is December 2nd.

The Club’s operating surplus as at the end of May is $7,779.82 and total equity is $8,030.09. The Foundation Account Financial Statements were not available at the meeting.
