Thanks to the amazing support from our partner Rotarians, Rotaractors and corporate sponsors, we were able to hand out $36,000 in awards to all 13 applicants to our 2022 Hoop-a-thon Rotary Youth Leadership Scholarships this year.

This is what the 2022 Rotary Hoop-a-thon Scholarship recipients told us:
- Thank you so much for choosing me to be a recipient of the Rotary Hoop-A-Thon Scholarship. Thanks to it I can be one of the first people in my family to attend post-secondary and start to achieve my dreams of becoming a paediatric nurse!
- Whether it may be for courses or books for school this money really goes a long way, and to be recognized by the Rotary association is a real honour. Over the past two years in Strathcona's Interact Club, I've been given the opportunities to grow and develop my own personal skills. This seemingly unmeasurable encouragement given by Rotary is a key motivating source....thank you, I am truly grateful for the scholarship.
- This scholarship will help lessen financial burdens related to my post-secondary education. I have plans to attend Simon Fraser University in the Fall of 2022 for a bachelor's in business administration. After I graduate from SFU, I hope to become an accountant and see where life takes me from there. Receiving this scholarship has also inspired me to continue to give back to the community and work hard to achieve my goals, as you have provided me with support in life after high school. Words will never be able to describe my gratitude.
- To have received this scholarship...will help relieve financial stress as I begin my journey at SFU studying Health Science. I would love to become a nurse one day, in hopes of working at the BC Children's Hospital. Volunteering has made me the person I am today. Seeing people smile and being able to connect with others is the reason I continue to volunteer whenever I can. I wish to give back to the community that has given me so much.
