All the hard work and planning paid off on the morning of Saturday April 23rd, when Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and supporters showed up to raise funds at our annual Hoop-a-thon fundraiser.One of the highlights of the day was the participation of Global BC TV News Anchor Chris Gailus - pictured above addressing the group. Chris has been a strong supporter of the Hoop-a-thon event in recent years, and, this year he surpassed his previous free-throw record when he sank 18 baskets in one minute to raise over $3000 through his effort.
Participants from the Boys Who RISE (Respectable Individuals Striving Everyday) youth leadership program supported the shooters and showed us how it should be done...which was particularly appreciated by all of us Rotarians who made gallant efforts! Participants and supporters are pictured below.
The great news is that every basket made raised funds, via pledges and donations to support scholarships, youth leadership and basketball programs for kids at risk in east Vancouver.
